Ceramics
Jenny George's pottery features vibrant glazes and creative designs. Using her potter's wheels, extruder, and slab roller, she works to create fun and functional work with sprig designs, decorative handles, and extra touches that make each item unique. She specializes in both functional and decorative ceramics, and all functional work is glazed with food and dishwasher safe glazes. Decorative raku pieces, known for their metallic lusters and specialized crackle, are specially marked. A Colorado native, Jenny has been playing with clay since her mother introduced her to small-scale sculpting in her teenage years. As a teacher, she has been honing her craft in her free time for almost twenty years. Now, she teaches art and uses her Black Forest studio to craft wine glasses, teapots, colanders, casseroles, and more. This year, with the help of her husband, she is adding decorative elements made from stamps from their 3D printer. These hand-crafted designs are stamped into her work, allowing her to add "Black Forest" to her mugs, ornaments, and key chains. Jenny is also working on crafting house numbers, where customers can pick out their own house number from tiles that are each sold separately.
As a newer member to the guild, Jenny has appreciated the camaraderie and friendliness of the members. What a talented and hardworking group! Thank you for the wonderful welcome.
In addition to ceramics, watch for displays of Colorado nature photography, jewelry incorporating ceramic beads, and culinary showing off her love of baking. For more information, you can visit her web site at JennyGeorgePottery.com or call 719-510-2666. During the summer months watch for ceramics classes taught at my studio.
