Katherine was born and raised in Texas and has 3 adult children. She attended Texas State University and received a BBA in Accounting. She also attended various art classes at the university. Katherine moved to Colorado in 2010 and has been a member of the Black Forest Art And Craft Guild since 2011. She has served on the set-up committee and also served as Vice-President and President.
